Three Chillies Design was engaged by Tonkin Gap Alliance in 2023 to design and construct the Bayswater BMX and Mountain Bike Facility — an innovative activation project situated beneath the Mooro-Beelo Bridge on the scenic banks of the Swan River.
The project involved crafting an urban recreational space from a completely flat terrain. Our team designed and constructed two distinctly different mountain bike trail lines, two pump tracks, a return track, and a specialised mountain bike skills track, bringing innovation to every feature. Overcoming the absence of natural elevation, all materials for features and the trail surface were brought in and crafted on-site.
The project’s unique location along the Swan River required careful handling of hazardous materials, including fuels, due to its environmentally sensitive nature. Our team adhered to strict environmental standards, demonstrating our commitment to responsible project management.
Since it’s opening in 2024, the Bayswater BMX and Mountain Bike Facility has become a favourite destination for riders and a standout feature in the community. The park has been featured on ABC, Channel Nine and Channel Ten news. This project reflects our ability to turn challenging landscapes into thriving community spaces, offering exceptional urban riding experiences while respecting and preserving the environment.
