John Dunn BMX Challenge Park

John Dunn BMX Challenge Park

Location: Kelmscott, Western Australia
Client: MG Group (for the City of Armadale)
Date: May – August 2021

John Dunn BMX Challenge Park, the biggest facility of its kind in WA, was a collaborative effort between Three Chillies, Ecoscape Australia Landscape Architects and MG Group for the City of Armadale.

The park boasts an impressive array of features that cater to a diverse range of skill levels. The park features separate beginner, intermediate and advanced pump tracks, all constructed with PolyPaved surfaces, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable riding experience. PolyPave has also been applied to three jump lines. The intermediate, advanced, and expert jump lines also incorporate concrete lips that ensure the longevity of the features and reduce the need for maintenance. A bike skills park allows riders to challenge themselves to a number of rideable obstacles tailored to testing abilities and agilities.

With such a diverse range of amenities, John Dunn BMX Challenge Park accommodates riders of all abilities, and fosters a sense of community, where riders of different ages and abilities can come together, challenge themselves, and forge lasting connections through their shared love of bikes.

The success of the John Dunn BMX Challenge Park was recognized by the Australian Institute of Landscape Artists in 2023 with an Award of Excellence in Play Spaces.
